Matthew 21:21-22; John 5:1-17
There is a song featured in the motion picture, “Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa” that I want to share as an introduction to today’s message.
The hook of the song is the lyrics: “I Like to Move It, Move It (3x)” followed by “We Like to Move It!”.
Like most party songs of the world, this song has energy, enjoyment, and celebration—everything that worship should be about.
Worship should be in Spirit and in Truth.
In Worship, we are invited to move in the Spirit of God.
Matthew 21:21-22 speaks of the power to move more than our bodies...
We can move mountains and we ought to like it.
In John 5, a great multitude of people gathered waiting for the miraculous.
They celebrated what heaven had done in moving the waters. When the angel of God moved the waters, healings occurred.
Whoever moved their body into the water in time with the movement of the angel got healed.
Sounds like a party scene. The party starts when the DJ plays the music. It’s the music that gets people moving and shaking… The fun happens when you move in time with the music.
Are you moving in time with the Spirit of God?
I am moving with the Spirit.
I like to move it, move it!
I Like to Worship, Worship.
I Like to Praise Him, Praise Him.
I Like to Pray It, Pray It.
We Like to Move It!
We Like to See the Miraculous. But like the invalid man of John 5, we often miss the one who moves it, even when he is dab smack in front of our eyes.
John 5:6c
“Do you want to be healed?”
thélō – to desire (wish, will), wanting what is best (optimal) because someone is ready and willing to act.
thélō ("to desire, wish") is commonly used of the Lord extending His "best offer"
to the believer – wanting (desiring) to birth His persuasion (faith) in them which also empowers, manifests His presence, etc.
Beloved, I pray that in every way you may prosper and enjoy good health,
as your soul also prospers. 3 John 1:2
Faith is always the work of God and involves hearing His voice.
Faith comes as Christ speaks His rhéma-word within (see Ro 10:17, Gk text).
“Faith is always a response to a divine revelation”.
“Faith, every step of the way, is Spirit-given / God-given”.
Note the close connection between faith (4102 /pístis,
"God's inbirthed persuasion" and this root word
Matthew 21:21-22
Jesus said to them, “For sure, I tell you this: If you have faith and do not doubt, you…will be able to say to this mountain,
‘Move from here and be thrown into the sea,’ and it will be done.
All things you ask for in prayer, you will receive if you have faith.”
The Faith that moves mountains is always a gift from God, and never something that can be produced by people.
In short, “faith” for the believer is “God’s divine persuasion” – and therefore distinct from human belief (confidence), yet involving it. The Lord continuously births faith in the yielded believer so they can know what He prefers, i.e. the persuasion of His will (1 Jn 5:4).
For whatever is born of God overcomes the world.
And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith.
Who is he who overcomes the world, but he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?
1 John 5:4-5 (NKJV)
Spiritual Faith is always received from God and never generated by us.
Ro 12:3: “…God has dealt to each one a measure of faith”
“Decide what you are by the faith God has given each of us.” (ERV—Easy-to-Read Version)
You must ·decide what you really are [think sensibly; think with sober discernment] ·by [based on; in accordance with] the amount of faith God has given you.
EXB—Expanded Bible
Gal 5:22,23: “But the fruit of the Spirit is…faith”
Matthew 21:21-22
Jesus said to them, “For sure, I tell you this: If you have faith and do not doubt, you…will be able to say to this mountain,
‘Move from here and be thrown into the sea,’ and it will be done.
All things you ask for in prayer, you will receive if you have faith.”
Move It, Stone By Stone; One Brick at a Time.
“Life by the Yard is Hard;
Life by the Inch is a Cinch”
Look back and see how much you have accomplished.
Celebrate with Expectancy of the Miracles to Come.
